Of results and manga...

While the dreaded day has come and gone...29 May 2009, the exact timing of the release of NUS 2008/2009 Semester 2 Examinations Results...

I must say I am quite shocked and please with my results. It was better than my expectations. An improvement of 3.35 from 3.00. Hope to continue this uptrend.

Exact details:
1) CH2141 (General History of China) = B-

This was a subject that took me by surprise, since I thought I screwed up my final examinations. I mean I wrote only 1 page each for 2 essay questions, and I did not have enough points to support my argument. While I guess the A from the group project help pull up my grade for this subject. But on serious thought, this was one interesting subject, albeit to clamp 5000 years of Chinese history in 12 lectures is too rushed...

2) CH2244 (Chinese Women: History and Literature) = B-

While I over-estimated myself on this module. Thought an open-book exam would be easy. Only study for it during the last minute...while I guess that is the result. But I have no regrets choosing this subject, as it has really open my eyes to the actual "reality" of Chinese women in history. All the previous sterotypes that I have, seems so cliche and simplistic...

3) CL3281 (Advanced Translation) = B+

While this was one fun-filled subject from beginning to end, considering the fact that I was the only male student out of 13-14 students. It was more of an exchange of ideas between lecturers and students, rather than a one-way transmission of ideas. Also, this was the only subject that I found the final examinations enjoyable, since I got to translate a section from Dan Brown's "The Da Vinchi Code", and critique some translation. Oh ya, the term paper was the most fun to do, since I got to do a critique on the difference between Japanese-Chinese translation and Japanese-English translation. So to sum it all up, FUN MODULE!

4) HY2235 (Environmental History) = B+

This was also another fun lecture. Films on almost every lecture. Interesting lecturer. Interesting choice of examination question. Would have score more if I had chose the topic for my term paper better...

5) SSA1201 (Singapore Society) = A-

While I hate this module. It was a complete waste of time. Lecturer read out from directly from lecture notes. Boring examination question and term paper. Enough said.

Moving on...Time to discuss something I am more interested in manga...below are some manga that I follow recently...

1) One Piece

It is getting more and more exciting. Monkey D. Luffy is attempting to escape from Impel Down, with the aid of Okama Queen and Revolutionary Emperio Ivankov, Revolutionary Inazuma, Ex-Shichibukai Mr. Crocodile, Shichibukai Jinbei. Blackbeard infliterating Impel Down, for what reason?

2) Bleach

Finally, Toshiro Hitsugaya show off his ultimate technique. At least, he is not as weak as we think. Ultimate Ice technique. Cool. Can't wait to see Soi Fon's Bankai. NEXT WEEK...

3) Naruto

Getting more and more ridiculous. Naruto convinces Pein, with stupid arguments. Pein revive everyone he killed in Konoha. Sasuke finally making his move. BORING!

4) Shaman King

Asakura Hao has become Shaman King, and so has Asakura Yoh, Tao Ren, Horohoro, Lyserg Diethel, and Chocolove McDonell. Hao's Oversoul is now the Great Spirit. Yoh = Spirit of Earth, Tao Ren = Spirit of Thunder, Horohoro = Spirit of Rain, Lyserg = Spirit of Fire, and Chocolove = Spirit of Wind.

It is now the final fight, especially considering Hao has killed almost every other Shamans, Patch officers, and even Anna. Can't wait for the end.

5) Kekkaishi

While the plot thickens and more and more is revealed. What would be the final fate of Karasumori?

6) Kindaichi Shonan no Jikenbo

New case. Is detective Isamu Kenmochi really the killer of the three people (who fucking deserve to die)? Nah...but interesting to see the way those fucking idiots die. Slowly watching water drip down from the tap, while being tied down in the bathtub (death by drowning) and being burnt alive....COOL

7) Saint Seiya: The Lost Canvas

Slowly reaching the end. Hades (Alone) Vs Athena and Pegasus Tenma. TOO SLOW...

8) Katekyo Hitman Reborn!

The CHOICE match has finally began. Time to see some new moves. EXCITING!

9) Fairy Tail

Oracion Seis verse the Alliance. But the Oracion Seis are freaking strong. Wendy the sky dragon-slayer...LOST MAGIC OF HEALING...Hmmm...INTERESTING...

10) Detective Conan

Lame ideas for killing and lame ideas for crimes. But I am hooked...WONDER WHY?

11) Tsubasa Reservior Chronicles and Xxxholic

2 manga with the almost the same storyline. Almost reaching the end. What will happen to the three Sakuras and Syaoran? Will Yuuko-san really die? Will Watanuki fulfil the wishes of Yuuko-san?

But one thing I hate about this manga is that the author take too many freaking breaks...

Enough said...Time to ciao...Bye Bye...

Haha. I read the first part of your post... found two and a half modules same as yours. Haha.

I agree that studying 5000 years of history in 4 months is really crazy. But the exam questions were expected - all transitions.

Translation... a bit bored for me, second part of lectures =P

Chinese Women. Yea interesting. I took last year so the open-book question was the same as what Dr Ong gave us before exams. Hehe I guess last year easier to score for sure =)

second part of your post, errr...

Next sem must ganbatte ok??
